What it is

NEET-UG is the national medical entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses. It is used for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS and other notified health-science pathways, subject to the rules of the respective counselling authorities.

Conducted by

National Testing Agency (NTA), with admission counselling handled separately by MCC, state authorities and relevant bodies.

How it is conducted

Single-day, single-shift pen-and-paper examination with OMR marking.

Exam pattern

Physics: 45 questions for 180 marks, Chemistry: 45 questions for 180 marks, Biology: 90 questions for 360 marks. Total: 180 questions, 720 marks, 180 minutes.

Basic criteria

Students generally need Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English at 10+2 level. The candidate must complete 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the exam year. Students appearing for Class 12 may apply provisionally, subject to passing at counselling/admission stage.
